Anthony Zangaro

Anthony Guy Zangaro, 62, of Beloit, WI, passed away on April 6, 2023, in his home. He was born on September 20, 1960, in California; the son of Robert and Emille (Mitchell) Zangaro. He graduated from De Sales High School in Columbus, OH in 1978. He also graduated from Ohio State University in 1985. After graduation, Tony entered the US Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. He served from 1985 until 1989. While in the Navy, Tony was aboard the USS Truett. While in high school and college, he was a YMCA camp counselor during his summer breaks. On June 17, 1995, Tony married Barbara Jones at Camp Kern in Oregonia, OH. He ran for the US Senate in 1996 while he and Barbara lived in Oregon. Over the years Tony worked as a district manager for Round Table Pizza, regional manager for Pizza Hut, Travel Centers of America, and was a human resources manager for Home Depot. He also worked as a poker dealer at the Southpoint Hotel and Casino and the World Series of Poker. Tony was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2018 and decided to retire. Tony’s one passion was cars. He owned many over the years including Corvette’s and Lincolns. There really wasn’t anything that he didn’t know about cars. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons Anthony and George Theisen; and his mother Emille Zangaro. He is predeceased by his father, Robert “Bob” Zangaro. Anthony will be buried at sea with the US Navy at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Tony would like donations to be made to The Carl B Kem Fund of the Dayton Foundation, Wounded Warriors, or Poker Gives.
