Amber Nicole Payne, 37, of Rockford, passed away on August 8, 2025. She was born on October 16, 1987, in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Rick Payne and Dawn Nelson. She was a graduate of Auburn High School and Rock Valley College. Amber worked as a clerk and cashier for the 7-Eleven and a waitress for Rosatti's Pizza. Amber loved animals including cats, lizards, and fish. She also enjoyed art and dancing.
Amber is survived by her children Malachi Payne of Janesville, WI, Kieon Payne of Rockford, IL, Heavenly Payne of Rockford, IL, and Melody Payne of Rockford, IL; mother Dawn Nelson of Rockford, IL; brothers Brandon (Heather Mueting) Payne of Pecatonica, IL, and Mike Rock-Nelson of Rockford, IL; sister Miranda Rock-Nelson of Escambia County, FL; Uncle Steven of Rockford IL Uncles Scott (Barb) Payne of Beloit, WI, Mike (Erna) Payne of Burlington, WI; aunt Laura Payne of Rockford, IL; numerous cousins; nieces and nephews; grandmother Lois Payne by Craft of Corning, AR; stepfather Joseph Rice "Papa Joe" of Rockford, her special friend Charlie; and her gecko named Lily; she is predeceased by her father Rick Payne; grandfather Rolland Payne; and grandmother Loretta Nelson.
