Aileen Day-Diegel

Aileen J. Day-Diegel, 77, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2025. She was born June 9, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Ailene Philp. Aileen was a member of the American Legion. She enjoyed playing games on her phone and playing cards with friends and family. She had a heart of gold and was a "mom" to many. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Every year she faithfully attended the Ride and Drive Memorial for the girls in Evansdale, IA. Her advice to everyone is to make sure you communicate with your family that you love them. Aileen was definitely loved, and she will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son Rodger (Brenda) Day; grandchildren Ashley Day, Alexander (Brittany) Day, Joshua Day, Destiny Young, and Alanna (Trey) Munson; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Marilyn Philp; several nieces and nephews; and her roommate and dear friend Melinda Olson. She is predeceased by her parents; husband William Day and husband Louis Diegel; her daughter Michelle Day; and her brother Jim Philp.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Water of Life Ministries, 2420 New Milford Church Rd., Rockford, IL 61109, with Pastor Dan Hernandez officiating.
