Alice Juanita Klinger, 95, of Winnebago, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 12, 2021 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Juanita was born on April 22, 1926 in Rockford, Illinois daughter of Walter B. and Marie (Dierks) Schwartz. She graduated from Rockford West High School, class of 1944. Juanita was married to Duane W. Klinger from 1953 to 1968 and she was blessed with three wonderful children which Juanita found were the loves of her life.
Juanita began her career as a medical lab technician advancing to X-ray Tech and Mammography, on the job full time at Brookside Medical Group/Swedish American and its predecessors for over 50 years before retiring. During its heyday, Juanita also spent many years working as a ticket taker at the Robin Drive-In Theatre. Many fond memories were made during family vacations to the western states traversing Route 66 with Albuquerque holding a special place in her heart. Juanita was a positive-minded, determined and resilient woman who strived to provide for her beloved family with respect and integrity. She took great pride in knowing that she raised three successful children. Juanita enjoyed volunteering and was a long time “On the Waterfront” committee member serving as the volunteer center coordinator. She was recognized by the OTW board of directors as “Weekend Warrior” in 1998 and presented the “Outstanding Leadership” award in 2001 for her volunteer dedication. Juanita was a great home cook and loved gardening and traveling, but more than anything… she loved her family. Juanita is loved and greatly missed by her children; Jeff Klinger (Jane Sanchez), Jim Klinger, Judy (Len) Polczinski; grandchildren Jonathan Klinger (Shelly Taberski), Julie Klinger, PhD (Nick Bojda, DPT), Brad (Kara) Peterson; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and sisters Esther Schwartz and Ruth Crocker. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the incredible staff at River Bluff Nursing Home and Unity Hospice for their loving and dedicated care. Memorial donations can be made to River Bluff Nursing Home Health and Rehabilitation Services in honor of Juanita. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date
